G4504.)NATIONAL LABOR SERVICE OFFICER'S FIELD CAP: so-called 'Robin Hood' service cap and an example that's in a superb state of preservation. I cannot say that over the many years that I have encountered many of these, and surely those that I have examined have been in a poor state. Tailored of the correct RAD olive-brown HBT wool and showing the proper profile and shape. Really nicely formed and perfect. On each side are two brown-finished metal ventilation grommets. Has center seam at middle of the crown; these are tailored of four separate pieces of woolen fabric. Piped around the flap with the correct micro-braided silver bullion cord. With brown woolen felt cap band at center and piped too with silver metallic cord in the center of the wool visor. At front is impeccably hand sewn on bullion wire hand embroidered RAD officer's spade device....original to cap there is no doubt. Interior of cap is lined with brown silk-like fabric and has genuine leather sweat band, soft and supple and intact. Some very minor wear to lining inside and penciled with German owner's name. Just outstanding all around. No mothing. EXC+++++
