G4826.)1870 IRON CROSS 1st CLASS MAGNETC CORE: appears to be quite genuine but unfinished. Iron (magnetic) center for the 17870 EKI. Details are crisp and in high relief as you'd expect but never finished with the typical matte black application. Shows some oxidation browning and the far right cross arm has yet to be filed down where it came out of the mold (attached to another adjacent EKI). Purportedly several dozen of these were found in Germany way back in the 1970's, I don't doubt it. EXC++++
