G404.)CASED 1939 WAR MERIT CROSS 1st CLASS WITHOUT SWORDS, ISSUE CARTON TOO: one of the so-called 'Deschler Hoard' discovered in Germany some years ago and sold off at the MAX Show in a total frenzy. Pristine specimen of the '39 KVKI w/o Swds and showing a rainbow, shimmery toning from years of being stored undisturbed in this case. Silver frosting is intact but sterling-like tarnished. Reverse has high quality hinge and tapered silver pin which is die-struck with maker's code '1' Comes in 2 3/4" square black leatherette case with functioning spring button catch at front. Inside is lined with plush black velvet and is slotted to hold hinge/pin assembly. Upper interior is lined with padded white satin which is printed with premiere maker 'DESCHLER & SOHN, MUNCHEN'. Intact and near perfect (but for one small rip to cardboard on one corner) tan cardboard carton. Printed with this award's title on lid 'KREIGS-VERDIENSTKREUZ 1. KLASS'. EXC++++
