According to Evans Kerrigan in his reference on US insignia this is the 4th style US Air Service Pilot's Wing being 2 1/2" wide silver with separately applied 'US' in center of shield. Reverse has horizontal swing pin and roller catch. Marked with crisp 'STERLING' on the reverse and maker's initials 'VHB' (for the premiere V.H.Blackinton Company). EXC++++
