RD212.)CASED GERMAN CROSS IN GOLD: a fine vintage counterfeit, fabulous old copy. Properly constructed in every respect; five separate components not including the hinge/pin assembly. Has black glass enameled swastika on silver disc, stamped golden alloy frame well detailed. Edged on either side with red base. Badge is 63mm wide and is constructed with two-ply base....burnished bronze upper while the lower base is silver frosted. Back of badge too is finished with a silver frosting, mildly toned with patina. Reverse has high quality hinge -- the correct type of this badge -- and tapered silver frosted pin. With four perfect, hollow rivets on back and incused with maker's code '134'. Black leatherette, hinged, case with functioning spring button catch at front. Note too the correct gold edged border around outside. Interior is lined with plush black velvet and is slotted to perfectly hold hinge/pin assembly. Upper interior is lined with padded white satin. Case doesn't glow under a black light. EXC++++

When testing for the presence of optical brighteners be sure to use a piece of white copy paper as a control. The white paper will glow like the lights of Hong Kong while the fabric will reflect a light purple cast. Big difference between the two; don't confuse them.
