Separately applied glass enameled eagle device in center. Glass enameling on the cross itself and the eagle is just outstanding. Gold alloy base is toned with years of patina. Gold oak leaf suspension device, double ring arrangement is correct and perfect. Ask for more up-close and detailed photos should you be interested in buying this gem. Ribbon is 55mm wide and 13" long. Comes in 3 1/2 x 5" hinged, red leatherette case with plush blue insert that's recessed to perfectly accommodate cross and is slotted at top for ribbon. Inside of the case is lined with padded blue lining and printed with gold title 'Ehrenzeichen fur Deustsche Volkspflege i.Stufe' (Honor Badge for German Social Welfare 1st Class).  Catch is present on this case but doesn't funciton. Cross itself is as fine as any $2,200 original, dangerous old counterfeit. EXC++++
