US4661.)WORLD WAR ONE US ARMY ENGINEER'S TUNIC: a really nice period US army enlisted man's blouse; typical coarse OD wool with wartime subdued eagle buttons. Stand-up collar has both 'US' and engineer's castle design screw-back collar tabs. This is the four-pocket blouse and one in a really nice state of preservation. On the wearer's upper left sleeve is very rare and desirable sleeve patch for US Army railway engineers. This patch is 3" square and has machine embroidered details with railroad 'winged wheel'. This patch is on OD wool base and is meticulously hand sewn on. Below is US Army WWI discharge chevron and at base of sleeve two gold metallic overseas chevrons (for total of one year in theater). Interior of blouse is lined with typical khaki brushed cotton. Hey, the US Army railroad patch is worth the asking price alone! Uniform comes with period photo of AEF doughboy wearing this tunic...clearly shows the railway engineer's sleeve patch. Photo was framed at one time and is broken in half and repaired with tape on the back. EXC++++
