US4899.)CIRCA 1920'S 24th INFANTRY DIVISION ENLISTED MAN'S TUNIC: four pocket tropical tunic tailored of quality heavy cotton, 2" tall collar. With five bronze American eagle buttons at front, four patch pockets with buttoned flaps. On wearer's left shoulder is the patch of the Hawaiian Division being hand-made with multiple woolen felt components, meticulously hand sewn on and original to this uniform. On the opposite sleeve is sergeant's chevron which is the tropical type with woolen felt stripes on tropical khaki duck cloth, machine sewn on. Collar discs are 'US' and infantry type with company 'C'. Buttons are all removable for laundering, round cotter pin type fasteners on the underside. With machine embroidered tailor's label on the inside neck area 'HOOK ON Co. Honolulu'. Clean overall and minor wear. One tiny moth bite to sleeve patch and one small nibble to wool on one chevron. The Hawaiian Division was organized in Hawaii in 1921 which pretty much dates this tunic precisely.
