RD226.)CASED 1914 WOUND BADGE IN SILVER; SCREW-BACK: a totally superlative vintage forgery, unbelievably fine. Stamped nickel-silver '14 Wound Badge, heavy and impressive. A beautiful badge. Reverse has threaded screw-post and oval brass disc with brass locking nut. Disc is die-struck with date '3.5.16'. Decorative and elaborate hinged case with functioning spring button catch at front. 3x4" leatherette with seprately applied Prussian crown device on lid, leather oval base adorned with a burnished gold application. Really an impressive old fake made to just totally screw you. Should you have encountered this gem at a militaria show you would easily consider it as genuine. Interior of case is lined with maroon velvet and is perfectly recessed to hold Wound Badge and screw-back device. At base is metal tag 'Verwundetenabzeichen' (Wound Badge) and at top is maker's label 'Johannes Spiegel, Uhren & Goldwaren, Neisse'. EXC++++
