US4398.)WWII USN ENLISTED MAN'S JUMPER AND TROUSERS; NAME-IDENTIFIED: I have had this jumper for nearly thirty-five years and it was given to me by the USN veteran himself way back in 1990. We'll provide you with his name along with lots of details on his service time aboard destroyers in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters 1942-1945. He had this uniform tailored in Norfolk, VA in 1944 and of course as being such back then it was against regulations (due to it's jaunty tailoring) and could be worn only when on leave. It's tailored of a super-high quality navy blue gabardine wool. On wearer's right sleeve is the rating for USN Boatswain's Mate/Petty Officer 2nd Class (PO2). Inside of both tunic and matching bell bottom trousers are adorned with elaborate and decorative green machine stitching. He served aboard the USS Thomas Pinckney and the USS Ahrens and participated in the following campaigns: Casablanca, North Africa; Invasion of Sicily; Bizerte, North Africa; Leyte, Philippines; Saipan and Okinawa. Beautiful uniform, no mothing. EXC++++
I knew this man from the time when I was a little kid. He worked for the public works department in the small Massachusetts town (Great Barrington, Mass) that I am originally from.
