US4660.)WWI PURPLE HEART MEDAL, NAME-ENGRAVED: serial numbered first issue specimen, circa 1932. A lovely PHM of the highest quality, typical of the stunning, first-issue pieces. Gold finished details are frosted, purple enameled background and separately applied Washington cameo in center. Finely enameled Washington coat-of-arms. Clean ribbon, nicely bunched and draped in the early fashion. Split-brooch mounted pin-back. Serial numbered on the rim with die-struck digits '55693'. Reverse is government machine engraved as issued with recipient's name 'FRED B. MILLER. With photo-copied original paperwork that came with this award named to 'Miller, Fred. B' showing his rank as 'Corpl.' and his outfit 'Co.A. 309th Inf.'. Shows too that he was wounded-in-action on 'Oct. 19. 1918'. This Purple Heart Medal was shipped to him on '2/13/36'. EXC++++
