US4657.)TWO CASED CIVIL WAR GAR VETERAN'S MEDALS: two GAR Grand Army of the Republic veteran's medals belonging to the same CW Union veteran. One is in gold with colonel's shoulder strap (GAR post commander) and with his original GAR membership medal. Both of these come in the original 2x4" maroon leatherette case. Hinged and with spring button catch at front. Both have clean ribbons, immaculate and intact. American eagle pin-back clasps. Back of the standard veteran's medal has patent date of 'June 22, 1883'. Much like the CW ear Medal of Honor, the GAR medal has the central motif as two veterans shaking hands in reconciliation (Confederate and Union veterans) with former slaves kneeling before Lady Liberty. Reverse of these medals have all of the Union Army corps emblems. Inside of case is lined with plush purple velvet and has two compartments, one for each medal. Gold printed with premiere Philadelphia jeweler 'Bailey, Banks and Biddle Co.'. EXC++++
