US4663.)CASED WWII PURPLE HEART MEDAL, NAME ENGRAVED KIA: a lovely period PHM, typical of the fine quality of the period. Has separately applied glass enameled Washington coat-of-arms and with pendent handsomely fire gilded. Same with the Washington cameo portrait. Short ribbon is nicely draped and bunched, typical too of the period. Reverse is government machine engraved in block letters to KIA infantryman 'GIDEON K. MYERS'. WWII period slot-brooch pin back. Comes in black leatherette case with gold printed title on lid 'PURPLE HEART'. Complete with pin-back ribbon bar and enameled lapel button for civilian attire. Comes with some documentation showing that Gideon K. Myers was killed-in-action on '15 July, 1944' in the Marche region of France during the later stages of the Normandy Campaign. He served with the 47th Infantry Regiment/9th Infantry Division. He was from York County, PA. EXC++++
