OC4889.)CASED IMPERIAL AUSTRIAN 1914 RED CROSS DECORATION: exquisite imperial Austrian order, the Austrian Red Cross Honor Cross. Fine glass enameled cross, 36x45mm dimensions. Enameling is the deep cloisonné type, just gorgeous. Separately applied green enameled wreath, separately applied red cross boss in center. Enameled workmanship is beyond description it's so fine. Same on the reverse and shows dates '1864' (the year that the Austrian Red Cross was founded) and '1914'. Clean ribbon is folded in the typical Austrian tri-fold configuration. Comes in deluxe quality red leatherette case, hinged and with functioning spring button catch. Inside is lined with plush ivory shade velvet and is deeply recessed to hold cross and tri-fold ribbon. Upper interior is lined with white satin and is gold printed with orders and decorations maker 'A.BACHRUCH' with this firm's shield logo. Lid of case is printed with Austrian Red Cross motto 'Patriae ae Humanitati.' (latin For Country and Humankind) along with 'K.D.'=Kreuzdienste (service cross). EXC+++++
