US4903.)CONFEDERATE SERIES 1864 $20 NOTE: lovely example of the Type 67 CSA series 1864 banknote. Shows only the faintest evidence of circulation, no folds nor any creases. In center is the state capitol building in Nashville, lower right portrait is that of CSA Vice President Alexander Hamilton Stephens. Printed in center with 'CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICAN' and 'TWENTY DOLLARS'. States 'Will Pay Twenty Dollars to the bearer on demand' and issued at 'Richmond, February 17th, 1864'. Hand serial numbered in black ink '48707' and with plate position letter 'A' meaning that this note was the first on an uncut sheet of twelve. Along the lower border is CSA printer 'Keatinge & Ball, Columbia, SC'. Signed in ink by proxies for the Confederate treasurer and the CSA Register. Back of note is printed with an elaborate, anti-counterfeiting, light blue lace pattern. Outstanding example. EXC++++
