RD314.)GERMAN ARMY MOUNTAIN INFANTRY REGIMENTAL STANDARD: a fabulous piece of workmanship, an old, vintage copy. Double-sided 22x24" dark green heavy silk-like fabric, double-thick. Dimensions include 2" silver bullion fringe. Both sides are impeccably hand embroidered with raised relief hand embroidery showing Wehrmacht eagle and swastikas in corners. Can't praise this one enough. Has superimposed black Iron Cross motif of ribbed black heavy silk, all bordered with silver tresse. Silver bullion wreath is in high relief, sculpted and three-dimensional...it's impeccable. Note too the gold bullion bow at base of wreath. Eagle is a black velvet, padded and thick and is accented with brown threads for contrast. Has 2" wide sleeve at one side for pole and still has the silver tacks to nail it to the staff. These tacks are like upholstery nails. Nothing on this standard glows under a black light. EXC++++

Be careful of the upholstery tacks. They're not lethal but they're still there. 

When testing for the presence of optical brighteners be sure to use a piece of white copy paper as a control. The white paper will glow like the lights of Hong Kong while the fabric will reflect a light purple cast. Big difference between the two; don't confuse them.
